Why?

Why not? I am so tired of people asking me how I can be both a Mormon and a democrat. I am tired of republicans thinking its perfectly ok for them to talk politics at church, and then recoiling in anger if I should happen to respond in kind. I'm tired of my republican friends assuming that since I am LDS, I will certainly appreciate their right-wing jokes and cartoons. And it drives me crazy that Glenn Beck is the face of Mormon politics.

Nothing I say here will change any of that, of course. There are many Mormon bloggers whose politics are similar to mine and whose blogs will reach a much greater audience. I am not delusional enough to think my blog will attract any attention at all. But, it will give me a place to vent that is hopefully more socially acceptable than calling out the elders quorum president at church.

I'm told there was a time when democrats prevailed among LDS church members. Our numbers are growing, and perhaps one day that will again be the case. Until then, I am content to be one of the voices crying in the wilderness.
